Middle Ground. Background checks anyone?

What the majority of mass shooting executors have in common is that they were all mentally unstable. Jared Loughner from Tucson, Adam Lanza from the Connecticut, and James Holmes from Colorado were all mentally unstable. There were clear signs, red flags, and warnings that were ignored time and time again. Instead of banning guns, and infringing the rights of American citizens, their should be a universal background check. Sadly this bill was not passed. Hopefully soon we'll get our act together and do something real about it.

My point is, I don't identify with either side. I understand both sides, and realize they are both flawed. Not everyone is out to kill people, and but not just anyone should be able to access a gun. It is that simple.

Gun Control? More Like Idiot Control.

Is gun control really necessary? Sure, all these killings are sad, but is taking away our rights really going to make anything better? Hypothetically speaking, if guns were outlawed and if a person wants to kill someone or a group of people, they will find the means at any cost; meaning, they will either use other sources, or will get a hold of a gun illegally, anyway. Many people are quick to blame the fire arm, but guns don't kill people, people kill people. How is taking the right to bear arms going to solve anything? If anything, it makes us weaker. Say the government does, by some chance, conspire against the people. How would we defend ourselves if that right is taken away? Also, say an intruder comes into our home. The average time it takes for the police or some sort of emergency response team to respond to the call and get to the scene is 23 minutes, a lot can happen in that time. As opposed to say having a gun, and being able to defend yourself instantly.

Gun control infringes our rights as American citizens,
the rights that our forefathers intended for us to have. We need to look at the real problem, and instead of banning guns, look at the people we sell them to.

End the hate. Spread the Love.

The topic of guns is a much a heated debate. Within the last two years roughly a hundred people have died due to mass killings. This debate reignited after the well known, heartbreaking incident in Newtown, Connecticut. Within five minutes, 20 children were killed. Who would do such a thing? Why was it so easy for him to access so many firearms? What could have prevented this? All question circulating the media and running through citizens minds. Motives, according to several sources suggested he went to kill his mother, but then why the children? That may never be known, he took his own life after the rampage. Obviously, this occurrence outraged the entire nation. It's sad to see anyone die, but killing innocent defenseless children can rattle anyone's cage. What's even worse, only a couple of months prior to the Newtown shooting, there was another incident in Colorado. And two years before, one here in Tucson, a place many of us now call home.
There have been so many opportunities to do something, to make changes, to pass bills, that could possibly protect our citizens and still abstain from infringing our rights. Let's be proactive and do something about it.
